In the last decade, Dan Malowany was involved in numerous startup ventures and he is currently the head of deep learning research at allegro.ai. Previously, he worked for 15 years at the Directorate for Defense Research & Development and led various R&D programs in the area of unattended ground sensors for the homeland security sector.
Dan received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2018, his M.Sc. degree in Electro-optical Engineering in 2003 and his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1998, all from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel.
His Ph.D. research at the Laboratory of Autonomous Robotics (LAR) was focused on integrating mechanisms of the human visual system with deep convolutional neural networks. His research interests include computer vision, convolutional neural networks, reinforcement learning, the visual cortex and robotics.
